Triathlon

Today was the day that Troy & Jason look forward to being over for the whole year - the varsity scout triathlon. They didn't need to practice much this year since they are on the swim team at Monte Vista, and they swim 2 hours a day. We knew that the swim would go much better than in years past! Jason was in the 13-14 year old category, and Troy in the 15-16. Jason was happy because he'll be 15 in June and would have to compete with the bigger guys. With our busy schedules, we failed to check out the bikes until I noticed last night that my bike had a flat tire. We borrowed a bike from our friends for Troy to ride. Unfortunately, he had a lot of trouble with it and the chain kept slipping. He was really disappointed that he didn't do so well. I hope that he can look back on today and laugh sometime in the future. (He did win a skateboard at a party today playing S-K-A-T-E, so that helped ease the pain.) Jason came in 3rd place in his category. It was a great race. Unfortunately, I cleaned up the gear bag while he was doing the bike ride and put away his inhaler and gatorade. He could've used that before the run. Sorry, Jason!! The triathlon consisted of a 200 yard swim, 7.5 mile bike ride, and 2 mile run. Then President Snodgrass took the stake members out to breakfast. That was probably the boys' highlight!! David and his scouts (including Eric & Noah) went kayaking at Fiesta Island. I think they had a good time, too. It's a beautiful day today. Now everyone is over swimming. What a nice day!!

Getting Ready for Summer

David has been working on the backyard for at least a month getting it ready for summer. We still have so much to do, but now we won't have grass in the pool anymore! It is supposed to be really hot for the next few days. I am so excited looking at the new cushions, picturing summer with the "girls" and I laying out, while the boys are swimming and playing in the water. I'm sure our busy schedules won't allow for it too much, but it will be fun whatever time we do get to have. Of course, we'll miss Grandpa and Grandma this year in their suits playing around with the grandkids. We'll have to keep this blog going with lots of fun pictures!!

My baby is Eighteen!!

Yesterday was Zak's 18th birthday! Zak is our oldest son, the first born but still my baby. I still can't believe it has been 18 years since he was born... I can remember it like it was yesterday. Really, I just can't believe how fast the time has flown by. If you were to see my boys, Zak is the one that looks most like me. Although in many other ways he is a lot like Jamey. He has grown into a handsome, talented young man right before our eyes. As the next year passes (hopefully not a quickly as the last 18) we will be savoring every second with our family. Once Zak turns 19 our life as we know it will never be the same. Of course it will be great & wonderful to send him off on his mission, but before he comes home we will be sending out our second son (Nate) on his mission - so life as a family of 6 will change once the boys all return from their missions. It's crazy to think we will be starting a new faze of our lives very soon. So as I said, this next year will be bitter/sweet as we enjoy our time together as a family. We are so proud of Zak & the man he is becoming, the choices he has made in life & continues to make - keep it up son!! We love you & Happy Birthday!

Hello Prescotts...

So... I decided since we all have such busy lives & keeping in contact can sometimes be impossible I would start a blog that we can all use. This way Joy & Max can read what we are all up to without having to send a separate email (or letter for those of you who actually use snail mail). We can read about each others lives at the same time. I hope you will all be as excited about this as I am. Join the blog & start blogging!!
