Triathlon 2011

I say it every year...this is my FAVORITE activity that the scouts do (minus the sleepover the night before.) Just kidding!! Here are all the participants of the 25th Annual Varsity Scout Triathlon.A few people came to cheer on the boys. A future varsity scout triathlete!!Eric getting out of the water. He did real well this year!!They went in three waves - by different age groups 5 minutes apart. Below is the last wave.

Mike joined in the fun this year. It was a lot of fun getting to know him better. He really is just an old teenage boy:)



Jason was happy when it was over, too. Although his goal was to get on the stand, he was a trooper when he didn't make it. He came in about 6th, and they only recognize up to 5th. Sidenote: Jason's been sick for a very long time. I'm so proud of him for trying and not bailing out this year!!

And our very own Stake President got in the action, too. It's so awesome when the leaders represent!! The weather was perfect for this event, and it's always fun to see old friends that we usually only run into this time every year. I must say, it was a little bittersweet. Driving by the airport while it was still dark out, thinking about March 30th when we were there, I got a little teary eyed. Then thinking of how Troy OWNED this event every year, made me a little sad. Troy started doing this triathlon when he was 12, a year younger than the suggest. He placed!!

I miss my missionary so dang much!!

Today was probably Jason's last year, since he's planning on being at BYUI this time next year. Where has the time gone?!

Baseball Season has begun!

Noah decided last year that he really wanted to play baseball when the season began again. As much as I had hoped he would change his mind, he didn't. So being the good parents that we are, we went bright & early this morning to his very first game... and they WON!!

I think he was on first base in this picture too, not really sure. Sorry the pictures aren't that great but that's what you get with an I-Phone. He was also the catcher but I forgot to get a picture of him doing that. It was an awesome game, even if it did last 3 hours long. Hoping the next game is a little quicker. The final score was 11 to 7 - The Padres won (of course). Noah did great & you would never know he has never played baseball before! What an arm that kid has!!

Elder Troy Prescott

Wed, March 30, 2011. Elder Prescott left bright and early to head to the Salt Lake airport. He was met by some fabulous people. They took him to the Provo Temple and ate at the BYU Creamery. Then off to the MTC.

On to another chapter in his life. A BIG chapter. We're so proud of you, Troy. And I can't express my gratitude enough for all the outpouring of love we have felt from so many people. Now go spread The Word, Elder Prescott.

Tongan Mission President Letter

Today Troy received a letter from his mission president. Here are a few interesting things we read:

• The Kingdom of Tonga comprises 168 coral and volcanic islands
• Was named the "Friendly Islands" by Captain James Cook
• There are many islands of Tonga on which missionaries serve
• There are 4 mission boats used to transport missionaries to and from these islands
• He will probably wear tupenus (skirts) and sandals most of the time
• Pens are at a premium, so bring a couple packages of them
• Bring all contacts, contact solution and deodorant to the MTC that he will need for the entire 2 years. (Don't they wear deodorant in Tonga???? Just askin')
• Come prepared to live in a manner that shows no affluence. There is an attitude of sharing there that others sometimes don't understand.
• If your parents desire to send things, send enough for two, as Tongan elders do not have the available resources that "palangi" elders have and sharing is greatly appreciated.

Two more weeks to go!

BTW, his open house is Saturday, March 26 from 5-7pm @ our house.
Farewell is Sunday, March 27 @ 9am at the Stake Center, 11am Helix Ward. All are welcome to any/all.

What a Trip

Saturday we were all supposed to spend the day together either snowboarding or at the desert. A good friend of ours had his funeral that day, so we sent the boys on their way. They opted for the desert with a couple friends. On their way home they broke down on the freeway. They were able to pull over and call us for help. They were about an hour away, so David and I both drove out there in separate cars to be able to get all the bikes and the people home.

We had to get everything off of the freeway, but not leaving anything alone to get stolen. Long story, LONGER day. 8 hours later we were all home safely.

Synopsis of the day: 2 motorcycle crashes

1 concussion (he's okay now)

4 extra trips to the mountains

Picking a toolbox and all its contents off the middle of the freeway between cars

5 worn out teens

2 great friends coming to the rescue

and untold "shenanigans" that they're not giving up while they waited (thanks Mark!)

We're just glad it's over; and after several hours today, the car is finally running again. Is it Friday yet?

Prescott Update

Tuesday Troy went through the temple in preparation for his mission. It was such a great day. Joy and Max were able to officiate in the session and a few friends were able to make it even though it was in the middle of the day. The weather was beautiful and the sun shone inside lighting the up whole place. It was a perfect day.Joy and Max left today for their mission. Before they left most of the family were able to get together to do a little photo shoot and lunch. It was a fun day to spend together one last time before our missionaries leave. We did miss Ashley and Zak, though, but we're so proud of what they're doing and their accomplishments.We will soon have 4 Prescotts out on missions. Hopefully ALL the boys will follow in their grandparents footsteps.
